51317--9694-Multipoint Flux Monitoring by the Hydrogen Collection Method Using a New Wide Temperature Range Flux Measurement Probe

The hydrogen collection method is used widely. In this paper we present preliminary measurements from a newly developed device based on the hydrogen collection method of flux measurement, which enables readings to be taken from up to four external probes sequentially, within a short time.

The hydrogen collection method is used widely to measure hydrogen flux invarious oil processing environments. The inherent advantages are the method's non-intrusivity ease ofapplication spead and dynamic range of measurementand tolerance of variable steel temperature and curvature.  In this paper we present preliminary measurements from a newly developed device engaging the hydrogen collection method which accomodates measurements from up to four probes of a new design within a cycle of less than ten minutes.  Prospective applications of the new tool will be discussed in the context of the results presented such as for hydrogen bakeout monitoring.

Key words: hydrogen, permeation, flux, HIC, naphthenic acid corrosion, sour corrosion
