1.1 This recommended practice presents recognized procedures for the control of external corrosion on underground conduit systems and direct buried lead-covered cables under the following headings:

• Section 4: Special Considerations
• Section 5: Test Methods and Designs for Each Criterion
• Section 6: Equipment Required for Testing Criteria for Cathodic Protection
• Section 7: Control of Corrosion Currents
• Section 8: Corrosion Control Records

1.2 This recommended practice serves as a guide for establishing minimum requirements for control of all types of lcorrosion in the following systems:

• 1.2.1 New or existing lead sheath cables located in underground conduit systems.
• 1.2.2 New or existing lead sheath cables buried directly in the earth.
• 1.2.3 Other systems, including existing cables bonded to cables with polyethylene jackets and with varying types of shields
