08115 Development of a C125 High Strength Low Alloy Steel for OCTG: SSC Mapping in Slightly Sour Environment

Today a need for a C125 Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC) resistant material exists with the development of High Pressure/High Temperature (HP/HT) oil and gas fields.  This paper focuses on the SS resistance of industrial heats.

The last decades have seen the successive development of high strength sour service grades with increasingly higher values of Specified Minimum Yield Strength (SMYS). Today a need for a C125 Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC) resistant material exists with the development of High Pressure/High Temperature (HP/HT) oil and gas fields. While a first paper published in 2005 dealt with a review of the performances of both C110 and C125 Sour Service (SS) grades based on the same steel composition, this paper focuses on the SS resistance of industrial heats.

Keywords: Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG), High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) steel, C125, Sour Service, Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC), Fitness-For-Purpose environments
