Atest method for evaluation of ethanol SCC of carbon steels was standardized by NACE International as NACE TM0111. It is a method that employs the use ofslow strain rate (SSR) testing techniques using either smooth or notched specimens that are pulled to failure in an ethanolic test environment.Thistest methodprovides standardized approaches to testing for ethanol SCC along with guidance for selection of test conditions and evaluation of SSRtest data. This paper will review recent experience in the use of this test methodfor ethanol SCC and variants of this test method. It will also provide the results of a recently completed round robin test program involving multiple testing laboratories using smooth and notched specimens in a standardized environment. The paper will review the results of this investigation. It will also discuss the reproducibility of the round robin data and potentialsources of scatter. Keywords: Ethanol stress corrosion cracking SCC TM0111 slow strain rate round robin testing test method
