Complications occur in orthopedic surgery. Corrosion of magnesium W4 alloy was investigated in vitro by electrochemical methods in solutions replicating the body's environment. To control the biodegradation of titanium and magnesium implants, bio active PEO coatings are essential for biomedical implants.

A recent review provided an overview of current microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) research. It established that despite extensive study and numerous publications, fundamental questions relating to MIC remain unanswered and stress the lack of information associated with MIC recognition, prediction, and mitigation (Little et al., 2020). On the other hand, bibliometric analysis on the MIC of engineering systems conducted a knowledge gap analysis to focus research efforts and to develop a roadmap for MIC research (Hashemi et al., 2018).
Market trends in concrete and coatings have a significant influence on the direction and investment in Research & Product Development. Several trends and resultant innovations will be presented.
A century ago, automotive companies developed the laboratory salt spray corrosion test method standardized in ASTM B117. Even then they knew this quality control test did not produce realistic exposures. Wet-dry cyclic tests provided modest improvements in correlation and have been used in architectural applications for many years.
Studies have shown that ensuring gender balance in the workforce and promoting high-performing women into executive positions improves the profitability and market strength of U.S. companies. Increasing the number of women studying and ultimately working in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) jobs would increase innovation and the performance of teams in the workplace.
Virtual paint training systems are a needed and valuable addition to teaching methods. As the accuracy and complexity of simulations improve, the industry has begun to exploit this fusion of simulation and education. This presentation explores the next step - how to use the simulation to increase student engagement, enrich their skills development, and improve the trainees’ knowledge base.
