This test method describes a procedure for conducting controlled velocity corrosion tests in the laboratory in which a corrosive solution may be moved at a known tangential velocity across the face of corrosion test specimens. The test method is useful in comparing the effects of the velocity of a solution on the corrosion of a number of metals at the same time, utilizing small circular metal samples. The equipment is inexpensive and requires little space, and the costs of operation and maintenance are low. Because of the velocity limitations given below, the apparatus is more useful for studying candidate materials for agitated vessels and pipelines than for pumps and valves.
