Application of internal plastic coatings (polymeric film) applied to oilfield tubular goods (tubing, casing, drill pipe) and oilfield accessories (e.g., fittings, valves, packers). Inspection. Quality control. In-plant handling. Storage. Historical Document 1991
This recommended practice shall apply to the application of internal plastic coatings for oilfield tubular goods and accessories. Plastic · coating is defined as a polymeric film applied to oilfield tubular goods (tubing, casing, drill pipe) and oilfield accessories (e.g., fittings, valves, packers) to form a protective barrier between the metal and the environment to minimize corrosion attack, contamination, and/or deposit formation. This standard also addresses inspection, quality control, and in-plant handling and storage. The user, as defined in this standard, is an individual or company, or their authorized representative(s), who will make use of the internally plastic coated (IPC) material (tubular goods and accessories). The applicator, as defined in this standard, is an individual or company who performs the coating application. The manufacturer, as defined in this standard, is an individual or company that manufactures the coating . This standard was prepared by NACE Task Group T-1G-4, a component of Unit Committee T-1 G on Protective Coatings, Elastomers, and Other Nonmetallic Materials for Oilfield Use. This standard is issued by NACE under the auspices of Group Committee T-1 on Corrosion Control in Petroleum Production.
