TEG 224X Abstract: The goals of this work is to better understand and quantify the interactions between localized strain deformation in materials and environmentally assisted cracking; namely stress corrosion cracking (SCC). Full characterization of the microstructure as well as oxidation and mechanical behavior of stainless steels and Ni-Alloys were carried out. SCC tests that correlated SCC initiation susceptibility to microstructure and oxidation have been carried out and show a clear relationship between strain localization effects and SCC susceptibility.
