Nickel-based alloys containing chromium (Cr) molybdenum (Mo) and tungsten (W) are widely used in various industries where the material experiences corrosive environments. While the corrosion behavior of wrought commercial Nickel-based alloys are widely studied there is little to no information on the corrosion performance of their welds and heat-affected-zones (HAZ) even though these are typically the weak regions for corrosion initiation and propagation. In the present study the corrosion performance of base metal all-weld-metal (AWM) and HAZ samples of B-3 (UNS N10675) G-30 (UNS N06035) and C-276 (UNS N10276) alloys were evaluated in various acidic solutions. The alloys were selected based on the alloying composition i.e. N10675 contains high Mo N06035 contains high Cr and N10276 has a balance of Cr and Mo. Various corrosion and surface analytical techniques were utilized to analyze the results.
