As the technology of dehumidification has developed over the last 25 years, the air conditioner has always played an active role, right along with its sister, the desiccant dehumidifier. The benefits of a refrigeration-based dehumidifier are both obvious and obscure.
One of the greatest problems facing the flooring industry is moisture vapor emission associated with concrete floors. Coatings blister and peel, wood flooring warps and buckles, adhesives fail to perform and carpet grows mold costing millions of dollars in claims, repairs and serviceability issues. This paper will discuss the causes, evaluation and mitigation methods to address this issue.

Corrosion is one of the leading maintenance costs across the United States Surface Navy, with approximately 25 cents of every dollar spent on maintenance going towards fighting or correcting corrosion. In addition to the huge financial burden, corrosion can limit the ability of our Navy’s ships to meet operational commitments and even prevent them from achieving their expected service life (ESL).
Until recently heavy metal-based corrosion inhibitors were widely accepted as the best materials that could provide the corrosion protection needed in coatings. Corrosion inhibitors provide an indispensable function in protective coatings. The performance of a coating under corrosive conditions requires that corrosion inhibitors provide sustainable protection during the coating’s lifetime.
