This NACE Test Method has been prepared to provide manufacturers, applicators, and users of thin film baked coatings and linings with a uniform comparative test method for evaluating abrasion resistance of thin coatings used to protect the inner wall of tubular goods.

The method used in this Standard is not intended to correlate with any particular field performance but is intended solely to compare two coating materials under uniform test conditions.

This Test Method serves as a modification of ASTM D 968. The ASTM Standard pertains to the abrasion testing of coated flat panels; this NACE Standard pertains to the testing of coating materials applied to the inner wall of tubular goods.

This NACE Standard, issued by the Group Committee on Corrosion Control in Petroleum Production (T-1), was prepared by Task Group T-!G-6 on Testing of Internal Tubular Goods Coatings of Unit Committee T- I G on Protective Coatings and Non-Metallic Materials for Oil Field Use.
