This presentation is to inform members that there is a clean plating process available which has been used for over twenty-five years. It will cover IVD Aluminum, as it was known from it’s early development, through current usage, including the development of the Ivadizer. IVD Aluminum is a high performance coating that is 99% pure aluminum and this presentation will cover the process, the history, the many uses, and some topcoats that have been used. Slides will be shown of the equipment, the coated parts, and actual parts with topcoats. Tests which have been performed will be discussed. There are man y commercial and aerospace specifications; however, for this presentation the Mil-C 83488 Rev. C will be used. The intent is to show that this is an effective coating for replacing cadmium for both aerospace and today’s requirements for good corrosion protection in all commercial fields.
