An oil products manufacturing company near St. Louis, Missouri has a long pipe run containing many bare and coated pipelines that traverse an area of multiple aquifers between the refinery and the docks on the Mississippi River. The only practicable method of cathodic protection was impressed current deep anode groundbeds. Concern over cross contamination of underlying aquifers led to a special modification of the owner’s standard environmentally friendly deep anode design that would meet both the cathodic protection and special environmental requirements of the site.
