This paper provides a description of the calcium chloride and relative humidity test procedures, the significance of the results, tips on interpreting the results, and the limitations of the test methods. We also present some of the other techniques used to measure moisture in concrete floor slabs, that are not as popular as the calcium chloride and relative humidity tests.
Purpose of this report: • Explain the history of South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule 1113 – Architectural Coatings and the process that SCAQMD goes through to lower Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in architectural coatings. • Report on progress toward achieving low-VOC products with respect to the coating categories subject to Rule 1113 limits. • Report on progress on Reactivity and Availability assessment of solvents found in architectural coatings. • Report on future activities with regard to architectural and industrial maintenance coatings within the South Coast Air Basin.

The Atlanta Hyatt boasts 1,260 guest rooms and just over 180,000 square feet of ballroom and exhibit space. Using the construction technology and trends of the time, the exterior surfaces of the hotel were constructed of exposed river rock aggregate consolidated concrete walls. This was a popular building material, but one that often left gaps of uneven areas where the river rocks were not evenly distributed.
On July 28, 1986 a tornado struck an area outside of Sioux City, IA, destroying one of the four power generation plants at Port Neal. The tornado registered an F4 on the Fujita scale, indicating that “devastating damage” had taken place on the ground. Although there were no major injuries to the employees at the plant, severe damage took place on the equipment.
