The polyurea technology has been developed by Texaco chemical in the 80’s. First developed for the reaction-injection-molding (RIM), it has been adapted for spray application. The development in the spray equipment in the 90’s has enabled the commercialization of 100% solid polyurea spray elastomeric coatings. Spray polyurea systems are fast setting materials, contain no VOC, and are highly flexible with chemical resistance and waterproofing properties. Since then, a lot of improvements in formulations have been done and a broader market application is achieved. Even so, a generic polyurea cannot fulfill all the requirements for every application. In our paper, we will highlight the latest spray polyurea system development in order to fit the requirement of new market application.
The intent of the nuclear supplement to the relevant SSPC QP contractor certification programs is to certify contractors and paint shops to perform work in and for nuclear facilities that require an enhanced level of quality assurance / quality control requirements and nuclear safety culture awareness for surface preparation and painting activities. SSPC will expand the current QP certification to include the assessment of capabilities of SSPC certified firms to provide coating services to the nuclear power industry based on ANSI and ASTM standards as well as NRC guidelines.

This paper discusses the use of Master Painter Institute (MPI) paint standards and systems to select and procure paints for the protection and beautification of commercial buildings. Background on MPI and an explanation of how to use its paint standards is provided, along with instructions for using MPI manuals to choose coating systems for building environments.
This paper presented the polyurea protective project of Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway. It also reviewed the polyurea history in China, introduced research and development of polyurea in Qingdao Technological University. The analysis and discussion on the application problems exposed in the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway project were performed in this paper.
