We generally think of the corrosion protection voltage as a tidy DC voltage tirelessly keeping rust at bay. The problem is that our trusty Fluke volt meters mask substantial protection problems such as induced voltages and currents as well as failed diodes in the rectifier. OmniMetrix has developed within its Wireless Remote Rectifier Monitors and Test Station Monitors the equivalent of a remote oscilloscope view of the voltages present on the pipeline. This new "scope" view reveals surprising new information related to the operation of the rectifiers and the influence of neighboring pipe lines and power lines. This paper will provide an overview of current generation techniques and examples of signals extracted from various installed sites around the country.
