Corrosion control guidelines that are applicable to existing atmospherically exposed structures made of conventionally reinforced concrete. Historical Document 1990
This standard presents corrosion control guidelines that are applicable to existing structures made of reinforced portland cement concrete. These guidelines may be used to develop specifications involving repair and rehabilitation of steel-reinforced concrete structures. These guidelines are to be used primarily where repair or rehabilitation is being implemented because of deterioration resulting from the corrosion of the steel reinforcement. Additionally, these guidelines may be incorporated into existing maintenance programs so that protective measures can be taken before corrosion begins or proceeds to unacceptable or dangerous levels. Because of the complex interaction between repair procedures and corrosion, the maintenance engineer must consider certain factors before initiating a rehabilitation program. Repair strategies, design and installation of corrosion control systems should be based on sound engineering practices to control future corrosion.
