This paper is a continuation of the earlier work presented in 2011 NACE Paper 19534 which described the laboratory testing and initial field results of an under deposit corrosion inhibitor application. Whilst the performance of the selected corrosion inhibitor was found to give encouraging field performance it was evident that additional testing was required to enhance the overall effectiveness of the treatment. It was recognized that laboratory based testing would be unlikely to simulate the true field conditions experienced in the waste water disposal pipeline and so a field sidestream apparatus was designed and installed. This equipment utilized a linear polarization probe which not only allowed for direct corrosion rate measurements to be made but could also be removed and assessed for solid contamination. The solids composition was also determined by XRD analysis. A series of chemical trials was then performed using direct injection into the sidestream unit to assess their impact on both corrosion inhibition and solids dispersion. Details of the results of this testing are presented and discussed and from this a proposed overall treating strategy is identified. Keywords: Iron sulfide waste water pipeline H2S LPR under deposit corrosion sidesteam chemical testing
