51317--9578-Experimental Study on Effect of Voltage Between Electrodes of Coupled Multielectrode Array Sensors

All Zero-voltage ammeters, including the zero-resistance ammeter or the shunt-resistance ammeter, impose a small voltage between each of the electrodes and the coupling joint. An experiment studied the effect of the voltage imposed on the measured corrosion currents using a CMAS probe. Experimental results.

Zero-voltage ammeters (ZVA) are required to measure the coupling currents from each electrode of the coupled multielectrode array sensor (CMAS) probe to the coupling joint to derive the corrosion current. All ZVAs including the zero-resistance ammeter (ZRA) or the shunt-resistance ammeter impose a small voltage between each of the electrodes and the coupling joint. An experiment was conducted to vary the voltage imposed by the ZVA and measure the effect. This paper presents the results on the effect of the voltage on the measurement of the corrosion rate with a CMAS probe.

Keywords: Zero Resistance Ammeter, ZRA, Zero Voltage Ammeter, ZVA, electrochemical sensor, multi-electrode sensor, corrosion monitoring, corrosion sensor, localized corrosion sensor, multi-electrode array, coupled multi-electrode, CMAS, galvanic Sensor
