When the first TLC case was detected in multyphase gas pipelines several mechanisms different corrosion control and monitoring systems were porposed. Development of some prediction models concerning water condensaiton retes for different types of heat insulations and also corrosion rate were initiated. Some of the corrosion control systems have been quite successful and new ones like volatile corrosion inhibitors are currently under developpement. Even though significan amount of knowledge have beed produced for the design of pipelines many of the data used for this purpose have field origin and subject to verification and confirmation. The paper describes most important developments during last 15 years and discuss degree of confidence in the proposed mechanisms the reliability the available data degree oof confidence in corrosion control and monitoring systems and degree of validity of the models used for design.
