The corrosion product layer and inhibitors greatly influence the corrosion-prevention in oil and gas pipelines applications. Both scientifically and practically it is significant to understand the influence of chemicals on the formation and dissolution of the protective layer as well as the interactions between them. This work aims to explore the corrosion/inhibition process with and without the influence of nitrogen heterocyclic compounds (imidazolines) in CO2-saturated NaCl Brine solution. The experiments will be conducted under turbulent flow at different temperatures constant pH for API X52 steel. The influence of solvent-free 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride liquid ion and commercial inhibitors are compared. The interfacial evolution in presence and absence of chemicals is characterized by DC and AC basis electrochemical methods. Additionally surface analysis techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) and Infinite Focus Microscopy (IFM) are used to characterize steel surface changes in the experimental procedure.
