Duplex coatings are used to protect galvanizing in harsh environments, provide aesthetics, and enhance corrosion protection. Surface preparation is critical to achieving long term performance, and abrasive blasting was found to be the most effective surface preparation technique.
Duplex coatings are used to protect galvanizing in harsh environments, provide aesthetics, and enhance corrosion protection. Surface preparation is critical to achieving long term performance, and abrasive blasting was found to be the most effective surface preparation technique. Epoxy/polyurethane coatings are commonly used as duplex coatings in highly corrosive environments, and these coatings were benchmarked against high build polyaspartic coatings. Polyaspartic coatings were found to perform as well as epoxy/polyurethane coatings in cyclic prohesion and wet adhesion evaluations over blasted hot-dipped galvanizing substrates.
This comic book features Inspector Protector and his super hero team, working to save the world from the corrosion Grubzz. A classroom supplement intended to inform young students about corrosion engineering. Comic Book format - 24 pages.

Concrete is the second most common man-made material after potable water, yet it is a complex material that is poorly understood. Steel reinforcement is added to improve the concrete's tensile strength and ductility and is initially protected by the high concrete pH and depth of cover concrete. Eventually, due to the ingress of deleterious ions, lowering of the pH from carbonation, or electrical potential changes within the steel, corrosion will occur.
At present multiple standards on blast-cleaned surfaces are in use depending on region and specifications of the project. However, most standards are relatively clear on the description of a surface some overlap each other. These overlaps are often considerate as the norm for the most comparisons between ISO and related documents, however, sometimes are significantly off. Some of these documents will be highlighted to compare the results and their impact on the coating job.
