In the pursuit of more accurately managing this threat many operators are finding their existing risk assessments incapable of providing the information required. This is because many current risk assessments fail to consider what DNV has titled the “Essential Elements” of a risk assessment. This paper will outline an example external corrosion algorithm highlighting these Essential Elements and their corresponding benefit.
