Higher order statistical measures (skew and kurtosis) and higher order spectra (the bispectrum) are potentially applicable to the analysis electrochemical noise data. In particular, uni-directional transients will give a non-zero skew and kurtosis, and a normalized bispectrum with significant structure. These methods appear to have value for the detection of the type of corrosion occurring from electrochemical noise data, although Iiuther work is needed to clarify their significance. It is also important to be aware of the rather large standard error for these methods.
