Prior to the development and manufacture of the 40’ diameter x 30’ tall (12.19 m x 9.14 m) domed head FRP tank discussed in this paper, the largest tank made with the barrier pre-leak detection system was 12’ (3.66 m) in diameter and 28’ (8.53 m) high and was manufactured and shipped in one piece from the manufacturing site. This paper covers the development work and manufacturing to scale up to the 40’ (12.19 m) diameter tank that had seven conductive zones and was shipped from the manufacturing site in nine pieces for assembly at the chemical plant. The three cylindrical wall sections (MODS), which are 40’ (12.19 m) in diameter x 10’ (3.05 m) tall, were shipped in the oblated form to allow transport.
