The design of FRP corrosion resistant equipment is sometimes difficult because the material properties are complex and FRP is often molded into complex shapes. There are several types of software available to aid the designer of FRP. For typical designs, easy-to use design rules programs are available which calculate thicknesses and also estimate the fabrication costs. User friendly lamination analysis software can be used to predict material properties and run pressure, vacuum, and axial load calculations for cylinders. For the more advanced user, Finite Element Analysis software can be used to design virtually any geometry with complex loading and material properties.
