Polarization methods such as potentiodynamic polarization, potentiostaircase, and cyclic voltammetry are often used for laboratory corrosion testing. They can provide significant useful information regarding the corrosion mechanisms, corrosion rate and susceptibility of specific materials to corrosion in designated environments.
