Carbon Steel tubing internally coated with resins (C.S.I.C.) has been considered, for a long time, as an alternative for corrosion control in water injection wells or in producing wells with very mild corrosive environments. Due to the low cost of such an alternative, compared to the Corrosion Resistant Alloys (C.R.A.), and to claimed improvements concerning both resins and their application modalities, in ’91 Agip decided to investigate its applicability in more aggressive environments. The results of the first test campaign being encouraging and particularly at least one tubing connection having qualified, further testing was decided and carried out. The paper presents the results of corrosion tests in production and stimulation simulated environments and of some mechanical test aimed at wire-line damage assessment. Finally some results from real producing wells, where two coil tubing operations have been performed, are showed. Keywords: Modified Phenolic Epoxy Resins, internal plastic coatings (I.P.C.), coating performance, water injection wells, oil& gas production wells, stimulation
