Phosphorous containing compounds play a major role in controlling corrosion and therefore reducing phosphorous levels will have a direct effect on corrosion mitigation. While the drivers behind lowering phosphorous are largely environmental, there are benefits in optimizing cooling water programs so as to minimise phosphorus discharge.
