A partial factorial experimental design was implemented to determine the main effects of 16 environmental factors on the perfcmmance of coatings used for outlet ducts in wet FGD systems. Suppliers applied their coatings, which included three epoxies, two vinyl esters, two fluoropolymers, and a polyester, on 7 in. by 7 in. (17.8 cm by 17.8 cm) carbon steel panels. Panels with and without a vertical weld bead were used. Each coated panel was exposed under isothermal conditions to one of 24 simulated outlet duct environments created in 12 specially designed fog chambers. A total of 384 panels were exposed for 400 hours each, split between two exposure periods. Coating performance was monitored in situ by means of periodic electrochemical impedance measurements. Statistical analysis was used to determine the main effects of temperature, flue gas components, and flue gas condensate components. Detailed examples of practical use of the data are provided. Keywords: organic linings, outlet ducts, flue gas desulfurization (FGD), condensing environments, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), performance
