New technologies for on-line monitoring and corrosion prediction to improve amine operation and
reliability in Amine units is presented and discussed. A software package developed for corrosion
prediction, allows to simulate the corrosive conditions for carbon steel and alloys in MEA (Describe,
(describe)DEA and (describe) DGA amine solvents. The corrosion rates predicted according to current
operating conditions let reliability engineers and plant operators to validate the previously evaluated
corrosion risk assessment for the unit and improve the corrosion management strategies. On-line
monitoring is useful tool to have real time data that could be integrated with the risk evaluation,
incorporating the field on-line data of corrosion rates into the input for updating the risk level of the assets
and improve inspection routines in the plant. A case study is presented as an example of the benefits of
these tools to improve amine unit operations and reliability.
