RCE testing is an established testing method used for the evaluation of corrosion and corrosion inhibitors under various flow velocities and shear stresses. The goals of this testing were to evaluate the corrosion rates simulating wells in CO2 environments and the evaluation of the performance of inhibitors for different grades of sucker rods. The conditions of the wells that were simulated were flow velocities, compatibility of corrosion inhibitors with other chemicals used in the field and water chemistry. The results of this tests and the selected inhibitor were applied in the field, and results are also presented and compared with lab data.
