Corrosion rates were measured in the field using various techniques, including weight loss, linear polarization resistance (LPR), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), electrochemical noise (EN), and externally mounted hydrogen permeation foils. Based on the quantitative comparison of general and pitting corrosion rates in 3 fields using 3 continuous inhibitors and 3 batch inhibitors at 18 experimental conditions, the merits of various techniques to monitor general and localized corrosion rates in an operating pipeline are discussed.
