An investigation was carried out to study the behavior of L-80 carbon steel in different volume percentage of produced water in crude oil in the presence of saturated pure CO2. Studies were performed under downhole conditions of varying temperatures (60-90°C) and total pressures (500 and 1000 psi) in an autoclave test apparatus with controlled rotating electrode. The corrosion rates were compiled using the linear polarization technique. The open circuit potential with time of L-80 in the different water cuts were also recorded. Three rotational speeds of 1000, 2000 and 3000 rpm were used during the experiments. The results revealed that corrosion rate and open-circuit potentials of L-80 carbon steel are dependent on the percentage water present and are affected by rotational speeds of the electrodes.
