Bleach plant tanks and towers are critical equipment that must perform reliably in a highly corrosive process environment over an extended service life. To assure the necessary quality to withstand this environment, while also assuring competitive bidding, the new equipment must be rigorously specified and the bidding process must be carefully controlled. A new website has been created that enables the specifying engineer to generate a complete set of equipment specifications and bidding documents for bleach plant tanks and towers. Similar FRP equipment specifications for bleach plant piping, ducting, hoods, etc. can be generated at the same time. This website prompts a specifying engineer anywhere in the world to enter relevant information and then, with the stroke of a key, generate and retrieve a complete set of FRP equipment specifications in industry-standard CSI format. This information includes project information, equipment information, process chemistry data, e.g. chlorine dioxide, standards information, and other special requirements, etc. The user is then guided through a resin selection process based upon the input data. Bid documents are also created. The specifications and documents are delivered to the user via email in rich text format (.rtf), which enables the user to make any final changes or revisions. Not only does this website enable engineers who are new to FRP technology to create good FRP equipment specifications, it enables FRP fabricators to bid projects better by providing clarity in what is required by the buyer. And, it helps the purchasing agent evaluate competitive bids by allowing an "apples-to-apples" comparison of bids. All of these benefits serve to improve the quality of FRP tanks and towers and advance FRP technology. An Appendix contains a description of system and the procedures to develop a unique set of project specific equipment specifications for tanks, piping, ducting, or other generic FRP equipment.
