The use of water treatment chemicals and the commonly high humidity environments of cooling water systems create a particularly heavy burden for maintenance personnel to tackle. Chemical corrosion, bi-metallic corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, microbiologically induced corrosion, to a name a few, can all become culprits in limiting the life expectancy of many cooling water components. Corrosion as a result of these different mechanisms can be controlled and eliminated as a result of the effective use of high performance polymers. For years, high performance polymers have been used in the control of corrosion in condenser waterboxes, recirculating water pumps, drip pans, pipes, valves, cooling tower fans, etc.
