In this multi-author book, Coatings Failures: Case Studies in Analysis and Solutions-Marine Coatings, coatings experts recall days in the field when they were faced with premature coating failures, determined a cause, and developed a solution.
Chapters touch upon such topics as marine coating systems and antifouling topcoats, the loss of adhesion and delamination of ship coatings, the failure of a separator onboard a FPSO, and even the importance of not painting a structure during a windstorm.

Prevention of corrosion on submerged surfaces, particularly ship’s hulls, is a challenging process. Beyond the corrosive effects of seawater, biofouling will start to accumulate, and if left unchecked, can potentially damage the coating reducing its anti-corrosive properties. In stationery applications, the biofouling may be of little immediate significance, but in the case of vessels, biofouling will greatly increase hull resistance, leading to reduced speed, greater fuel consumption and emissions, as well as enabling the transfer of alien species as the vessels travel the globe.
The SSPC Pocket Guide to Coating Information is a handy reference to those charts, standards, and calculations most frequently needed during surface preparation and coating application.
Chapters consist of topics such as soluble salts, concrete coating, inspection, corrosion basics, and more.
