This paper explores room temperature and low temperature properties of epoxy intumescent PFP coatings. Tensile properties and adhesion values down to –40°C were measured and will be discussed. Comparison between flexible, tough PFP coatings and hard, brittle PFP coatings will be presented.

Impact of exposure to a low temperature environment below -30oC (-22oF) was investigated on a carbon fiber and epoxy composite repair system that had previously been qualified to the ASME(1) PCC-21 Article 4.1 nonmetallic repair standard.
Issues faced by operators with low temperature sandstone reservoirs of only 40°C and 54°C and challenges these low temperatures brought, including high MIC for sulphate scale control and poor chemical retention & release properties during the reservoir condition corefloods.
