For years, people have relied upon a variety of industry accelerated testing methods in order to predict how long a coating / lining system may be useful in service. This type of testing would include heat aging, Atlas Cell immersion testing for lining products and accelerated weatherometer testing for coating systems, just to name a few. Polyurea spray applied elastomeric materials have been no exception to this type of testing. One of the most important testing evaluations has been accelerated weatherometer exposure for products used in outdoor application areas.

The Bureau of Reclamation has encountered challenges with coatings on pump casings. The casings are exposed to aggressive erosion conditions due to the suspended solids such as sand and debris in the water.
Sustainable concrete repair products can extend the time in between repair cycles and increase the service life of a structure. This will discuss the fact that based on 10+ years of field and laboratory testing, organofunctional silane corrosion inhibitors are effective at corrosion mitigation, thus decreasing the frequency and extent of repairs. Evaluation on new concrete also showed a predicted increase in time to corrosion initiation when compared to untreated reinforced concrete specimens. Modeling results were verified in a 2-year laboratory study.
The next generation of aliphatic moisture cure urethane (MCU) topcoats has been developed through new resin development and advancements in MCU formulation knowledge. These new MCU coatings drastically improve upon current commercial aliphatic MCU topcoats, which are typically applied between 2-3 mils DFT.
