NACE Institute Training Fee - CCA Examiner

A Coating Applicator Examiner (CAE) is a NACE approved examiner that meets the requirements below:

  • Must hold an Active NACE Certified Coating Applicator certification
  • Must hold an Active NACE Coating Inspector Level 1 - Certified certification or SSPC PCI Level 1 Inspector qualification
  • 5 Years work experience as a Coating Applicator
  • Approved Coating Applicator Examiner application
  • Successful completion of the NACE CCA Examiner Training

Other requirements:

The examiner is a third party contractor that may administer the Coating Applicator practical exam at any test site. The CAE is not permitted to administer the exam to their own co-workers, employees, competitor bidding on the same work, or any other candidates that may present or appear to present a conflict of interest. The CAE must have their own tablet or computer and have a data plan or consistent internet services. THE CEA must sign a liability agreement.

Attend NACE examiner training:

First, attend one day face to face training with NACE staff and/or Lead examiner. 

Then, shadow a lead examiner for one day (minimum of 4 exams) and be observed by a lead examiner administering the exam for one day (minimum of 4 exams).

Next, train in another location with a second lead examiner with a shadow and an observation day. Scores must be within 3 points of lead examiners results.
