Inhibitor evaluation on a Cr bearing steel was carried out studying effective active ingredients of potential inhibitors and the beneficial effects of co-existence of small amount of liquid hydrocarbon which has been experienced for carbon steel. Because of the pressure lowering of a gas-condensate field the gathering line temperature will be estimated to reach at nearly 150 oC in sweet corrosive conditions the use of 13%Cr material is considered to be one option. However the corrosion resistance of 13%Cr is known to deteriorate at about 125 oC and higher. It was vital to initiate to study potential inhibitor effectiveness for 13%Cr steel before the employment of the alloy for the particular lines.

It was found that amines were not effective for 13%Cr steel but carboxilic acids showed some protection even at 150 oC. The addition of small anount of liquid hydrocarbons markedly increased the inhibitor performance.
