The present work examines the effect of flow on the corrosion behavior of AISI 1018 carbon steel immersed in a CO2 saturated NaCl solution with small amounts of H2S. To simulate flow conditions the rotating cylinder electrode (RCE) in turbulent flow regime was used. Electrochemical techniques such as Linear Polarization Resistance (LPR) Potentiodynamic Polarization Curves and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) were used to characterize the electrochemical behavior of cylindrical carbon steel samples in the working solution at room temperature. Electrochemical parameters like polarization resistance corrosion rate and limiting current density have been utilized to analyze the effect of H2S on corrosion of carbon steel in H2S/CO2 coexisting environment under turbulent flow regime.
