Fitness for purpose test of riser pipe sections containing post weld stress relieved girth welds with hardness’s exceeding 250 HV were made utilizing a full scale test set-up. The tests simulated severe exposure conditions in terms of mechanical stresses, and increasing souring of the transported commodities. The result has defined safe operational limits in terms of pH and partial pressure H2S for the “as produced” risers.
